When our device is damage, there are several ways that can functions to fix the device. However, sometimes the device won’t ever functions with the same capacity as new, and we will go to explain the possibly why for this later.
First it all, it is good no only take care of the USB memory flash drive, it will be better if you take some precautions when you save important data for example a power point presentation or an excel document. We recommended, always checking the data copied in the USB device, trying to open the copy file from your device, immediately after you get the copy. If it does work or run well, will work later, if it does not work or run well, most probably not works or run later. Anyway, if your file do not open, try to copy it again, but this time change the name of the file, so, the file will be stored in a different sectors from de USB memory device, this is better than delete the file from de USB device and try it to re-copy, because it will be stored at the same damage (probably) sector.
What if the above mentioned do not works?
Ok, there is a tool in PC that could fix the problem, to access, you only need to go to My Computer, Right Click in your USB memory device, go to properties, then tools and select Run Error Checking and Scan it for error. If there one error that could be fixes it, it will fix it. This may works.
What if we still having the problem?
Ok, maybe you will need to format your USB memory device. To do this, go to My Computer again, select your USB memory device, and this time go to Format the drive, now, be carefully because this will delete all your data stored in the USB memory, so please try to backup the data first, as you can. After format, all data and errors are removed and hopefully the memory works again.

Why after I formatted the USB memory device shows less capacity?
We exactly do not know, but there are people that say that the big capacity USB memories are constructed by sectors, this sectors can results damage by multiple factor, as mentioned before here. Some programs as the described lines above here or even the normal PC format tool, “avoid working again in this bad sectors” the final results is a decrease in the memory capacity. Anyway the most important here is try to rescue the information and “some” of the USB memory capacity and try to see what produce the problem to the memory to try to avoid it for the next time.
